ABSTRACT
Very few studies have been done of one of the most obvious limiting factors to effective teaching in inner-city classes. The professional time spent out of the classroom affects all secondary school teachers. But in the difficult school this lack of time away from the pupils will spoil the time that teachers do have in the classroom.
