ABSTRACT
The title ‘Documentary’ is simple enough. The challenge perhaps is to recognise what is encompassed by the term, all that it might mean, and, from that, what is really relevant here.
What exactly is documentary? Is it a genre? Or a style? When can a programme be fairly called a documentary? What are its defining characteristics?
