ABSTRACT

In chapter 3 we introduced the subject of change. Now we turn to the question of large-scale and large-system change. What are large-scale and large-system change?

Mohrman et al. (1989: 2) define large-scale change as ‘lasting change in the character of an organization that significantly alters its performance’. Largescale change has three dimensions:

1 Deep changes, which entail shifts in members’ basic beliefs and values in the way the organization is understood.
