ABSTRACT

The argument in the preceding chapters has been that, while headteachers are not required to become experts in accountancy, marketing, law and so on, the range of their responsibilities, nevertheless, has widened. If senior staff are to continue to exercise academic leadership in addition to these new responsibilities then the management of time becomes a crucial issue on their agenda. The limitation of a finite amount of time is identified by many headteachers as one of the most serious constraints they face in attempting to meet the challenges presented by the changed managerial arena.
