ABSTRACT
Over the last few years the idea of cross-national comparative research has become increasingly attractive, because of the opportunities that it provides for analysts to test emerging theories under new circumstances and for pracititioners to consider the lessons from other people’s experience. In practice, however, the conduct of research projects in this field has presented major problems to analysts from the point of view both of the design and of the execution of projects of this kind.
