ABSTRACT
The problems associated with controlling emissions of greenhouse gases, principally carbon dioxide, are economic and political not technical. Technologies exist commercially, or are in an advanced development stage, which could greatly reduce the world’s reliance on fossil fuels, but the questions remain: how much will this cost? how much abatement is economic? and who should reduce their consumption of fossil fuels, and by how much?
