ABSTRACT

This chapter reports the impact on teachers’ personal practical knowledge of their involvement in five school-initiated, school-based professional and curriculum development projects which took place at a school and community college in Lincolnshire, England during 1986–87. It describes the impact on the thinking of those teachers who participated actively, and raises issues for the management of school-based work which is designed to enhance the professionality of teachers and the quality of education for pupils.
