ABSTRACT
A large number of animal species have become successful through their association with man. This association may provide them with food or harbourage, or both. Houses and the controlled environment which they create have contributed significantly to the usefulness of humans to these species. Indeed only very few animals are truly cosmopolitan and the majority of these have achieved their distribution through exploiting man and human dwellings.
