ABSTRACT

The Museums and Galleries Commission and the Museums Association do a great deal to influence museum standards. As has been seen in Chapter 40, the Museums and Galleries Commission in particular publishes both guidelines and codes of practice in a number of different areas. By way of an example of this work, the following are the MGC’s guidelines on provision for the disabled in museums and the quality of service to be given to visitors. They serve as a standard against which current provision can be assessed and future developments planned.
