ABSTRACT
In the 1970s, when the Museums Association was developing its approach to the ethical basis of curatorial work, it was recognized that two codes would be necessary: one which addressed the responsibilities of the individual, the other the responsibilities of the institution. As a consequence, museums in the UK now have access to both.
