ABSTRACT
At the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation (UKIC) Symposium on Gilding (4 December 1980) Peter Thornton, Keeper of the Furniture and Woodwork collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum, warned that ethics were subject to fashion and that the young people who were adamantly advocating the ethical approach should be made aware of the transient nature of their views.
