ABSTRACT

Ethics are discussed throughout this book in the context of the issues introduced in each chapter. The present chapter is intended to provide a more focused discussion of the topic. In the absence of clear ethical guidelines describing appropriate and inappropriate assessment practices, the content of this chapter can provide guidance to classroom teachers. It does this by distinguishing between those behaviors that ethical and unethical where there is a consensus. In other areas where no clear consensus exists, both sides of the ethical dilemma are presented.
