ABSTRACT

There have been many studies on chemical resistance of concrete in the past, but, in many cases, it is difficult to directly compare these test results with one another, because they had been obtained under different test conditions. Aiming at improving such circumstance by means of standardizing the methods of test for chemical resistance of concrete, the Chemical Resistance Working Group (C.R.W.G.) in the Research Committee on the Safety of Structural Materials, organized in the Japan Testing Center for Construction Materials, has proposed a draft of standard testing methods for chemical resistance of concrete in the aggressive solutions and that of cement paste in 1983, after the systematic research performed from 1978 to 1982, on many factors influencing the chemical resistance of concrete, mortar and cement paste.
