ABSTRACT

For over 50 years SFRC has been a major fibre composite material to the world’s concrete industry. Steel fibres have been used with the intention of increasing resistance to cracking and impact, and in some cases the use of fibres distributed in the concrete mix acts as a substitute for the traditional corrugated steel reinforcement. The mechanical behaviour has been rather satisfactory, particularly where critical points of a structure require high resistance to impact, cavitation, shearing, and wear and tear, Zollo (1985).
