ABSTRACT

If the three years passed quickly for us, they must have flown by for the Young Adults and Adults we interviewed. Three years is a long time in a person’s educational career; a person can go through law school, begin and complete a master’s degree or a doctorate, or all but finish a bachelor’s or medical program. As we finished the efforts presented in the preceding chapters, we thought again about the thirteen people we’d interviewed earlier. We wondered how their lives were progressing, and we wondered, too, whether their experiences over the past three years supported the findings of our study. And so we set out to contact these people for a second round of interviews.
