ABSTRACT

Why did the SC emerge and make a sustained challenge in local politics? Why is a women-populated organization led by men? What are the limitations of the Greens in Japan? The answers to these questions partially lie in the organization’s leadership, structure, and ideology. To make an impact on society, its male leaders shaped the ideology and organizations of the group. Oligarchic tendencies within the co-op and NET resulted from the founding fathers’ dominant role in designing their organizations and ideology.
