This review is generally attributed to Emerson, but Louise Greer has made a case for Margaret Fuller, in her Browning and America (1952), pp. 218-23. The Dial was the organ of the Transcendentalists, a small but influential group of poets, critics, philosophers and litterateurs living in and near Boston.
