ABSTRACT
In some psychological research the objective is simply to discover whether two variables are related to each other. For example, a personality theorist may wish to know whether extraversion is related to the frequency with which people change their jobs, or whether a person’s level of neuroticism is correlated with his or her accident record. In this kind of research a correlation either supports or disproves some theoretical view of the world, and that is all that is required.
