ABSTRACT

Notable characteristics of movement style in works by Booth are grace, flow, control, a low centre of gravity, the use of off-balance, and an inward focus to much of the movement. These features reflect his background, training, and interests as well as a wider historical context. In many ways it is a very idiosyncratic combination of elements, and in this respect Booth (encouraged by his Dartington training) is like the modern dance pioneers whose physiques and movement characteristics themselves shaped their work so definitively.
