ABSTRACT
This central section of the Gospel is characterised by the journey motif and the theme of discipleship. Two stories of the healing of blind men, one near the beginning (8.22-26) and one at the end (10.46-52), frame this section. In the first story the blindness of the disciples is treated parabolically. In the end the twelve remain blind and Bartimaeus follows Jesus in the way.
