ABSTRACT
To Bronowski1, the single most signal step in the ascent of man was the creation of the cave paintings-the first bold attempt to model, for the young men of the community, a future reality as yet outwith their experience. In the course of the ascent of man model building, as a means of understanding and predicting future reality, has become staggeringly sophisticated.
