1 Cost consequences of design decisions: cost of contractors’ operations

A new approach to the way in which the quantity surveyor can give cost guidance to the designer is being developed within the Directorate of Quantity Surveying Development of the PSA. The technique can be used at any stage in the design process but is of considerable value at the earliest stage of design-the period during which present methods are found by many to be less than adequate.
