Integrating Computer Technology
This chapter aims to provide a coherent explanation of the potentialities of computer technology for enhancing teaching and learning, and how these potentialities may be realized, all within an holistic concept of designing the learning-centred school. First, the chapter establishes key principles for computer use in schools. Second, it discusses the creation of a school technology plan. Third, it provides examples of schools which have integrated technology into the curriculum. Fourth, the problems posed by resource constraints are acknowledged. Finally, some cross-cultural implications are drawn for the growing importance of technology in designing the learning-centred school.
