ABSTRACT
The Italian construction industry has experienced a serious downturn over the past few years, and has started recovering only very recently. The building industry has been faced with the consequences of four years of economic recession that has involved all areas of Italian national economy. From 1991 to 1996 the drop in investments has been close to 12.4%, with effective losses in terms of production of about 20,000 billion Lira.
