ABSTRACT

Throughout the latter half of 1990, a construction management simulation, called COMMITTED, was developed by the author. The work was undertaken in response to the difficulty that students in the School of Construction Management at the Queensland University of Technology, had with the application of management theory to real life situations. The simulation has been used annually in a subject linking the early technical areas of the course with the later management areas. Over the period few changes have been made to the fundamental concept but the method of delivery has been changed from paper-based to computer based. The paper covers attempts made to demonstrate the efficacy of this form of teaching management in a construction based course.
