ABSTRACT
Spreadsheets have evolved into sophisticated computation and presentation tools with a tremendous potential for use as teaching tools. This paper describes how spreadsheets can be used to supplement and enhance traditional teaching of building structures and in particular the statics part of those subjects in undergraduate building degrees. The spreadsheets are providing an interactive teaching and learning environment and can reduce the time lecturers spend preparing tutorial examples.
