ABSTRACT

This chapter will analyse what I have chosen to label under-socialized models of change. The chapter begins by outlining the key features of this particular approach to the analysis of change. Following this, the approach and orientations of under-socialized models of change will be appraised. Picking up on the arguments developed in the preceding chapters, the oversights and omissions associated with an under-socialized model of change will be analysed. This chapter will argue that these oversights and omissions have roots in the particular ideological and political leanings of the authors who develop them. However, it is worth pointing out that since the authors are in fact producing items for consumption, this particular orientation must also reflect the ideological and political leanings of the managers, management students and consultants who are the intended purchasing audience for many of these books and guides.
