ABSTRACT

This chapter returns to one of the central motifs of this text. It revisits the idea that theoretical analysis and reflection should be regarded as both unavoidable and indispensable. This chapter, therefore, may be regarded as a prelude to subsequent chapters which will investigate the variety of theoretical orientations available for the analysis of organizations and change. In this and the following chapters (particularly chapters 7 to 9) we will attempt to construct a multi-level, conceptual framework for the analysis of change and its management.
