ABSTRACT
Comes to a Standstill near the Gas Stove; BACON AND EGGS SPOILT; But Father Saved and Fire Danger Averted. But it was not the bizarre priorities, the haphazard use of capitals and lower case or even the quaint design which caught my eye. Rather it was the geography. Here was a Cardiff-based newspaper deciding to lead its front page with a story from London’s suburbia. Closer examination showed that none of the four stories illustrated by the sample front page was from the principality. The others concerned a gun raid on a shop in Dublin, an Atlantic rescue drama and a general British weather story.
