ABSTRACT

SOPHIA: I believe there is no such thing as an eternal being, God; there is only time, change and the universe.

IVAN: I think it is rationally acceptable to believe that God exists and that time and the universe are created by this eternal being. Admittedly, I have no proof that God exists, but I believe the theory of a creator of the universe can be explained in rational terms. A case in point is the concept of eternity. I believe this is a rationally coherent concept and that the theory of an eternal creator of the universe can be accepted by a rational person. I will acknowledge that it is not easy to arrive at a fully satisfactory definition of eternity, but I believe that if we discuss the issue at some length we will be able to develop a satisfactory definition.
