ABSTRACT
When the Allies landed in Normandy in 1944, the fiercest resistance they encountered was from the 12th SS Panzerdivision “Hitler Jugend”, whose members, when wounded, preferred to “die for the Führer” rather than accept medical help from the enemy-until they were threatened by a fate worse than death, transfusion with Jewish blood.
