ABSTRACT
The primary mission of most colleges and universities is excellence in teaching and research. For example, the expressed aims of Cambridge University (1995) include: providing teachers and researchers of the future; encouraging and pursuing research of the highest quality across the whole range of subjects studied at the University; developing new areas of teaching and research to advance scholarship; and meeting the needs of the community.
