ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we provide a critical survey of the literature on economic growth with a focus on the issue of ‘convergence’: why do countries with lower GDP per capita grow faster than, and hence converge toward, countries with higher GDP per capital We also provide empirical results exploring the link between quantitative measures of ‘culture’ and economic growth.
