ABSTRACT

The concept of partnering as currently practiced is not a recent phenomenon. It has existed in various guises for many years, although not referred to by that specific name (Loraine 1994). Since the beginning of the 1990s there has been a proliferation of books, papers and manuals pertaining to partnering, all advocating their own philosophies, methodologies, theories and best practices. Partnering has now become an established concept for procuring buildings with wide acceptance in the USA, Australia and the UK.
