ABSTRACT

We are teacher educators who strive hard to improve on our practice. We have found that it is often hard to focus systematically on one’s own practice at the higher education level simply because so little attention is paid in the teaching profession to college and university teaching. We have found that membership in an informal, local group for teacher educators has been very helpful to us as we reflect upon and make changes to our practice. In this paper, we will provide a brief history of the teacher educator group that has supported us; discuss ways that this group has influenced our practice, particularly through teacher inquiry projects that we each embarked on; and examine our efforts in light of current trends in the areas of professional development and school reform.
