ABSTRACT

This chapter is closely linked to Chapter 8, which considered how to plan a training event. It was stressed that the design of a training event should not be built around the trainer’s favourite exercises, but on an analysis of learning needs and objectives. A ‘Programme session planner’ format was presented in Chapter 8, which provided a framework for the design of training sessions. That framework needs to be understood in reading this chapter, as it underpins the selection of the specific training methods described here. The reader should therefore be acquainted with the contents of the previous chapter before reading this chapter.
