Frameworks, competences and quality: open learning dimensions to initial teacher education and training

Britain’s Open University was founded in 1969, one of the symbols of the 1960s’ technological revolution. It has since prospered. With nearly one hundred thousand undergraduate students, and the same again on a range of postgraduate courses, ‘the OU’ is far and away the largest institution of higher education in the country.
