ABSTRACT

England’s first daily paper, the Courant, was published in 1702. During the course of the eighteenth century many more newspapers were founded, including the Morning Post in 1772 and The Times in 1785. However, it was not until the last decade of the nineteenth century that the mass circulation daily paper made its appearance.
