ABSTRACT

Samyutta Nikaya, v, 420 (3rd century BCE) 4 Let him establish a steady seat in a clean place, neither too high nor too low,

covered with a cloth or a deer-skin or sacred grass. Sitting there let him concentrate his mind on a single point, restraining the activity of thought and sense, and practise Yoga to purify himself. Steady, holding his body, head and neck motionless, gazing at the tip of his nose and not looking round; with tranquil soul, free from fear, firm in his vow of chastity, with mind controlled, let him sit yoked, with his thoughts on Me, absorbed in Me.
