ABSTRACT
Questions of conciousness are fundamental to the anthropological endeavour. They take many different forms: What is the nature of social consciousness? What is class consciousness or false consciousness? How do ethnic boundaries form? The National Question. There is also a set of questions asking how the individual gains or creates consciousness and how individual consciousness is structured. And what is the relationship between individual consciousness and social consciousness?
