ABSTRACT

If Craft Design Technology developed at secondary level there is no need for it to exist in the primary phase purely at a watered down level. It will be different in the same way that mathematics may be coloured buttons in sets at five years and a formal statement of logic at sixteen. Each activity has its own validity. At primary level the role of Design Technology is particularly to develop a technological awareness and to begin to build an understanding and capability; an understanding and acceptance that problems do not have a single solution and that we are able to respond to our environment in many ways and at many levels. The future quality of our man made environment is our responsibility.
