ABSTRACT
During the past ten years the Czech Republic has undergone radical political, economic, socio-cultural changes that are related directly or indirectly to the field of sport. Until 1989 the sports policy was based on legislation, was administered entirely by the state, and controlled by the universal physical education organisation ‘Czechoslovak Association of Physical Education’ (ČSTV – Československý svaz tělesné výchovy).
