ABSTRACT

Every cultural institution manager requires someone in authority to open and lock the more important doors, to respond to protection problems, and to be responsible for protection operations, including planning. Every cultural institution requires a systematic management of its valuables and protection. The cultural institution manager often relies on the appointment of a cultural property protection manager to coordinate every protection matter. The cultural protection manager is the daily security manager for the institution. The protection manager develops protection rules to assist in the safe operation of the institution, takes immediate action to resolve operation difficulties, and plans a full-time protection program for the institution and its property. The protection manager educates the staff to respect protection rules and systems, works closely with local police, fire, and medical emergency services, and is responsible for the institution during emergencies.
