ABSTRACT

Combined palaeoenvironmental and geoarchaeological fieldwork focusing on the later Neolithic-earlier Bronze Age periods in the Wyke Down and upper Allen valley area of Cranborne Chase in Dorset (Figure 12.1) is producing new types of data (Allen 1998; French et al. 2000) with which to re-examine the land-use models put forward principally by Barrett and Bradley (Barrett et al. 1991a and b).
