ABSTRACT
The phenomenon of population migration in Arab countries is not just a recent one. The factors contributing to this can be traced back in the work of Ibn Khaldun. 1 It can be inferred from Ibn Khaldun's empirical socio-economic analysis that labour migration in the Arab countries was linked to the natural process of transition of societies from their primitive states to more civilized ones.
