ABSTRACT

Within neurology, the typical approach to rehabilitation begins with establishing a diagnosis and broadens to consider the implications for treatment and management. The approach within neuropsychology, is different, and typically begins with the measurement of cognitive function and dysfunction. In this chapter we seek to integrate both approaches and to add a third, namely an analysis of the processing requirements of everyday tasks and the practical approach to relearning found in occupational therapy. We concentrate on olfaction, vestibular function, and vision. We consider diagnosis and management, and describe various simple rehabilitative techniques.
