ABSTRACT

Nicola Hancock was invited to help plan and lead two INSET days on differentiation, which would then lead on to further development work in different curriculum areas. She decided to draw upon the research which she had undertaken, as part of course work, trying to apply learning styles theory in her own English teaching. In this chapter, she describes her research and what she learnt from it that was of relevance to her own work with children. She also shows how, in collaboration with colleagues, she built successful staff development activities around these ideas, and identifies some of the principles which helped to make the experience a worthwhile one for colleagues.
