ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book shows how television could be used more effectively even without the use of a video recorder. It also shows what is possible under present circumstances and illustrates the effective use of the video recorder. However, secondary-schools had given a great deal of thought to its use and were better equipped than the large majority of schools. Latitude is allowed for teachers to develop their own software but the computer 'program' is geared towards attaining the learning objectives. The video-recorder modular tape material is open-ended with no specific learning objective. Although video-recorder recall is not as swift as the disc player, its digital numbers enable modules to be fairly quickly located. Finally, and most importantly, interaction between television teacher and children becomes a reality.
