A new city, surmounting a war, facing a new future. Over the years there has been fervent praise for the urban landscapes of the 1950s and 1960s. Today, almost half a century later, those wonderfully ingenious neighbourhoods are being decried with equal fervour. Where once life was pleasant, now problems are accumulating. What has happened and what can we do about it?
