ABSTRACT
Most social scientists accept that changes in the economy since 1945 have affected class relations: but there is considerable debate on how to interpret these effects. These debates must be viewed in the context of the theoretical disagreements between neo-Marxists and neo-Weberians, who have provided the two dominant perspectives in the analysis of the British class structure.
